Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup Versus the Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their initial Fall Classic since 1993 by beating the Mariners in the decisive game seven of the ALCS.
Down 3-1, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in the majors to a four games to three victory in the series. Next up are the defending champions, who are the reigning title, in the forthcoming World Series.
"It's incredible for everyone here, Toronto, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "What an incredible feeling."
George Springer has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, ranking him third in history behind Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another player on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that moment except for him with his post-season brilliance," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, remain the one club yet to make an appearance in a championship series.
Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but commended their performance throughout the year.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we finished on the losing end of this game," he added.
Toronto won the championship on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in the opener on this Friday.
